The Pakistan Collectorate of Customs (Appraisement) has authorized the import of iron scrap via the Bazarcha Terminal at the Pakistan-Iran border, according to Dawn News.
A public notice issued by Kaleem Ullah, the Additional Collector of Customs, confirmed that the approval allows the import of iron and steel products, including waste and scrap, from Iran through the Bazarcha Terminal in Taftan.
Mohammad Ayub Miriani, President of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Haji Akhtar Kakar highlighted that this move would simplify the import process for the business community.
The decision is expected to lower transportation costs for importers, help meet the steel industry’s demand and provide a positive boost to the construction sector.
