UAE’s EMSTEEL has been named a finalist in two categories of the World Steel Association’s 2026 Steelie Awards, recognizing its work in process and product innovation and life cycle assessment.
The company is shortlisted in the Innovation category for developing high-toughness silicon-killed jumbo sections without vacuum degassing. The technology is designed to enable production of demanding structural steel grades without a separate vacuum degassing stage.
EMSTEEL is also a finalist in the Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment category for its TrueGreen initiative, which uses production data and life cycle assessment to evaluate the environmental footprint of steel products and support customer carbon assessments.
Other finalists in the Innovation category include Ansteel, HBIS Group, JFE Steel and Nippon Steel. In the Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment category, the shortlist also features ArcelorMittal, Hyundai Steel, Jingye Group and JSW Steel.
Iran’s Mobarakeh Steel Company is among the finalists in the Excellence in Sustainability category for its initiative, “People first, planet better, industry stronger.” Other nominees in this category include China Baowu, China Steel Corporation, JFE Steel and Nippon Steel.
The 17th Steelie Awards recognize World Steel Association member companies across six categories, including clean steel production, innovation, sustainability, life cycle assessment, people and communications. Winners will be announced on October 12, 2026.
