UAE’s EMSTEEL Group has supplied low-carbon Z-type steel sheet piles through its distributor, Sheet Piling (UK) Limited, for the Middlewich Eastern Bypass project in Cheshire, UK.
The sheet piles are being used to provide temporary earthworks support for two new bridge structures crossing the Trent and Mersey Canal and the Sandbach to Northwich railway line.
Sheet Piling (UK) Limited, appointed by contractor Balfour Beatty, is responsible for the supply, installation and extraction of the temporary sheet piles. Works at the Tetton Railway Bridge have been completed, while installation is ongoing at the canal bridge.
The project involves construction of a 1.6-mile bypass connecting Pochin Way with the A533 Booth Lane. The USD 73 mln scheme began construction in May 2026 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2028.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, EMSTEEL has annual production capacity of 3.5 mln tons of steel and 4.6 mln tons of cement. The group exports to more than 70 markets, which account for around 30pct of total sales, and produces a broad range of steel products including wire rod, rebar, heavy sections and sheet piles.
