Erciyas Celik Boru wins hydrogen pipeline contract for Italian project

Turkish pipe manufacturer Erciyas Celik Boru has secured a contract to supply hydrogen pipelines for a European energy project, the company announced in a stock exchange filing.

Erciyas won the tender issued by the Italian Public Gas Administration for the manufacturing and supply of 23.5 km of hydrogen pipelines. The project, located in Italy’s Lombardy region, which includes Milan, is considered strategically significant as part of Europe’s energy transition goals.

With this contract, Erciyas stated it becomes the first company in Turkey, the fourth in Europe, and among the top five globally capable of producing pipelines that are fully compatible with hydrogen transmission.

The pipelines will be manufactured in compliance with European standards and will be designed specifically for hydrogen transport. Production is scheduled to begin in 2025, with staged deliveries to follow, the company added.

Erciyas Celik Boru specializes in producing steel line pipes, with diameters ranging from 10″ (273.1 mm) to 160″ (4,064 mm), and an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons.
