    Erdemir reports sharp decline in H1 earnings

    Turkey’s major steel producer, Erdemir Group reported a sharp decline in net profit for the first half of 2025, according to its latest financial results.

    Net profit fell to TRY 1.81 bln (USD 44.5 mln), down significantly from TRY 10.39 bln in the same period last year. Sales revenue also dipped over 5pct YoY to TRY 94.95 bln (USD 2.33 bln).

    Crude steel output dropped nearly 16pct YoY to 3.7 mln tons in H1 2025, with the Iskenderun plant contributing 2.7 mln tons and the Eregli facility producing 1 mln tons. Capacity utilization fell to 77pct, compared to 93pct in H1 2024.

    Flat steel production declined 8.7pct YoY to 3.27 mln tons, while long steel output dropped to 366,000 tons from 450,000 tons a year earlier.

    Flat product sales totaled 3.3 mln tons in the first half, including 2.4 mln tons sold in the domestic market. Long product sales reached 367,000 tons, with 161,000 tons sold locally.

    Exports accounted for 25pct of the company’s total sales during the period.

    Erdemir Group’s main products include billet, slab, wire rod, hot rolled, cold rolled, and coated steel products.
