Erdemir is set to achieve a milestone in the Turkish steel industry with its upcoming hydrogen injection trial at its first blast furnace, a key step in its green steel transformation. In alignment with its goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050, the trial is scheduled for October, marking a significant moment for the company.
Conducted in collaboration with Erdemir Engineering and Linde, the trial will involve injecting hydrogen gas into the blast furnace through five tuyeres over a two-day period. This initiative will position Erdemir as one of only three steel producers in Europe to implement such a process.
