Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) has awarded its 1.5 GW Khazna Solar PV project to ENGIE and Masdar.
The utility-scale plant, to be built near Al Khazna in Abu Dhabi, will be developed under a power purchase agreement in which EWEC will pay only for net energy supplied.
ENGIE and Masdar will design, finance, build, and operate the facility following a competitive procurement process, EWEC said.
