According to recently released data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan has witnessed a significant decline of 33.5pct in finished steel imports in May 2023 compared to the previous year.
Last month, the total imports of finished steel into Pakistan amounted to 176,610 tons, marking a notable decrease from the 265,721 tons recorded in May 2022.
The data also revealed a YoY drop of 24.5pct in finished steel imports during the January to April 2023 period, with a total of 928,050 tons imported.
