Fortescue reported record iron ore shipments for the financial year ended June 30, 2026, supported by strong operational performance across its mining, rail and port operations, while maintaining production costs within guidance despite inflationary pressures.
Total iron ore shipments reached a record 201.3 mln tons in FY26, including 52.7 mln tons in the June quarter. Shipments from the Iron Bridge magnetite project increased 27pct YoY to 9.0 mln tons, reflecting continued ramp-up of the operation. Hematite C1 unit costs remained within guidance at USD 18.74 per wet metric ton for the full year despite higher diesel prices and inflationary pressures.
Looking ahead, the miner expects total iron ore shipments of 197-207 mln tons in FY27, including 11-14 mln tons from Iron Bridge. The company is also assessing options to increase port outload capacity from approximately 205 mln tons to 210 mln tons per year to support future production growth and optimize its product mix.
