    Global stainless steel output rises in Q2 2025

    Global stainless steel production reached 16.36 mln tons in Q2 2025, up 3.1pct YoY and 5pct quarter-on-quarter, according to the World Stainless Association (Worldstainless).

    China remained the dominant producer, with output rising 3.9pct YoY and 9.6pct QoQ to 10.54 mln tons. In Asia (excluding China), production fell 2.2pct YoY but rose 4.1pct QoQ to 3.49 mln tons.

    Europe’s output declined 5.1pct YoY and 4.1pct QoQ to 1.54 mln tons, while the United States recorded a 7.8pct YoY increase and a 1.1pct QoQ gain, producing 559,000 tons.

    In other regions (Brazil, Russia, South Africa, and Ukraine), output rose 2.9pct YoY and 1pct QoQ to 225,000 tons. Worldstainless, formerly known as the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), is a global body representing leading stainless steel producers worldwide.
