GPIL plans expansion of iron ore mine in Chhattisgarh

India’s Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL) has announced plans to expand capacity at its Ari Dongri iron ore mine in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district.

According to a stock exchange filing, a public hearing for environmental clearance will be held on November 13, 2025. The proposal seeks to raise mining capacity from 2.35 mln tons per annum to 6 mln tons per annum and expand the lease area from 138.96 hectares to 213.01 hectares.

GPIL, an integrated steel producer, operates across the value chain with iron ore mining, pellet, sponge iron, billet, and wire rod production, supported by captive mines and power generation facilities.
