Hafeet Rail has signed a commercial agreement with EMSTEEL to transport and export aggregate materials between Oman and the UAE. It has also awarded construction contracts for key railway facilities in Oman to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Power China, while China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) will supply advanced freight wagons.
The Heads of Terms Agreement with EMSTEEL, a major steel and building materials manufacturer, establishes a long-term partnership to transport limestone and red shale from Oman to the UAE. EMSTEEL’s Group CEO, Eng. Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, highlighted the agreement’s role in securing a reliable and sustainable supply chain for the company’s cement unit.
Hafeet Rail has also signed a strategic contract with L&T and Power China to design and build logistics facilities in Al Buraimi and Sohar. The Sohar facility will include locomotive and wagon maintenance to ensure long-term reliability, optimize operations, and enhance network resilience, strengthening Oman’s role in global trade.
Additionally, CRRC has been contracted to design and supply high-performance freight wagons. Hafeet Rail, a joint venture between Oman Rail, Etihad Rail, and Mubadala, aims to develop a modern rail network to enhance logistics efficiency and drive economic growth between Oman and the UAE.
