Vietnam’s largest steelmaker, Hoa Phat Group, has signed contracts to supply steel containers to VIMC Container Transport JSC (VIMC Lines) and Vinafco Shipping JSC.
A key competitive edge for Hoa Phat is its self-supply of weather-resistant hot-rolled steel from its Dung Quat Iron and Steel Complex in Quang Ngai province.
Under its first deal with VIMC Lines, a subsidiary of state-owned Vietnam Maritime Corporation, Hoa Phat will deliver 1,000 containers, including 500 20-foot dry containers and 500 40-foot high-cube units, starting in June to meet peak-season demand.
Separately, Hoa Phat signed a second contract with logistics firm Vinafco for 750 TEUs (20 foot equivalent units), with deliveries scheduled to begin in August 2025. The containers will be deployed on Vinafco’s domestic shipping routes as part of its fleet expansion strategy.
Hoa Phat operates Vietnam’s largest container production facility, with a total capacity of 500,000 TEUs per year. Phase 1 currently produces 200,000 TEUs annually, focused on standard 20- and 40-foot containers.
