Turkey’s iron ore imports reached approximately 879,000 tons in May 2024, marking a 42.6pct YoY increase but a 17.7pct decrease compared to the previous month, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
From January to May 2024, Turkey imported around 4.48 mln tons of iron ore, a 56pct increase compared to the same period last year. Brazil was the largest supplier, providing about 2.24 mln tons, followed by Ukraine with 694,000 tons and South Africa with 688,000 tons.
