Indian steelmaker Jeevaka Industries has selected Primetals Technologies to supply a 3-strand billet caster and a high-speed rebar outlet for its upcoming steel mill in Hyderabad, Telangana, with commissioning targeted for the first half of 2026.
The billet caster, to be provided by Concast India, a Primetals subsidiary, will produce 100-200 mm square sections. It includes advanced equipment such as a dummy bar system, 50-ton ladle car, and a diagonal hydraulic billet shear with high-speed cutting to improve processing efficiency and reduce waste.
The single-strand rebar outlet will roll 350,000 tons of 8-40 mm rebar per year at speeds up to 45 meters per second, making it one of the fastest in the world.
The project’s scope features advanced technologies including an 8-stand eDrive Morgan No-Twist mill, pre-no-twist and divide shears, a Morgan Water Box for in-line temperature control and pinch rolls, delivery pipes, and a rotary entry system, all integrated with Level 1 automation
Primetals’ eDrive system, utilizing independently driven stands, offers high processing flexibility and reduced operational costs. The Long Rolling Enhanced Temperature Control System ensures precise stock temperature management during rolling.
