Jindal Steel Duqm LLC has received the 870-ton direct reduced iron (DRI) reactor vessel for its green steel project at the Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZ), marking another key construction milestone as the project advances toward commissioning.
The reactor vessel, a critical component of the ironmaking process, was delivered to the Port of Duqm by barge before being transported to the project site using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) and Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) technology.
Jindal Steel Duqm, also known as Vulcan Green Steel, is developing a 5 mln ton per year green steel complex in two phases at the Duqm SEZ. The first phase is scheduled to commence operations in the first quarter of 2027, with construction progressing and major equipment deliveries underway.
