Jindal Pelletizing LLC (JPL), a subsidiary of Jindal Steel Oman, has commenced pellet shipments to customers across the GCC, marking its entry into the regional export market.
The company said the first dispatch includes DR-grade pellets, positioning the plant to supply material suitable for direct reduction processes.
The milestone follows the recent commissioning of JPL’s pellet plant in Oman, which has demonstrated a rapid ramp-up in operations. Within three months of startup, the 6 mln tons per year single-unit facility produced around 15,000 tons, reaching close to 80pct of its rated capacity.
The company attributed the progress to operational stabilization and coordination across production, quality and material handling functions.
The development marks a step forward in Jindal’s strategy to expand its presence in the regional pellet and raw materials market.
Jindal Pelletizing LLC, located in Sohar, Oman, is designed to produce 6 mln tons per year of iron ore pellets and serves as a key backward integration project, enhancing raw material security for Jindal Steel Oman’s downstream steel operations.
