JSW Steel Dolvi has commissioned SMS to supply a 350-ton BOF converter, along with a twin ladle furnace, gas cleaning plant, and automation systems (Level 1 and Level 2). This project is part of JSW Steel’s strategic expansion, set to increase the mill’s capacity by 3.7 mln tons per annum.
The new BOF converter, one of the largest in India, features an advanced oxygen lance system with a maximum blowing capacity of 1,250 Nm3/min, boosting production efficiency. It will also be equipped with cutting-edge automation that offers users a comprehensive view of the plant without switching between automation levels. In addition, SMS will provide process optimization models integrating control, production strategies, and metallurgical systems to ensure consistent quality and reliable production.
This order highlights the strong partnership between JSW Steel and SMS, reinforcing SMS group’s position as a technology leader in the steel industry. Beyond the steelmaking facilities, SMS also secured orders in 2024 for a 4.5 mln tons per annum blast furnace and a first-of-its-kind CSP Nexus integrated casting and rolling mill, capable of producing hot strip and plate up to 2,600 millimeters wide.
With the new blast furnace and CSP Nexus plant, JSW is set to produce top-quality materials when the expanded steel mill begins operations in 2026.
