JSW Steel sees 14pct production growth in Q1 FY26 YoY

JSW Steel reported a 14pct YoY increase in consolidated crude steel production to 7.26 mln tons for the first quarter of FY26, according to a stock exchange filing. However, output declined 5pct quarter-on-quarter, mainly due to planned maintenance shutdowns of blast furnaces.

The company noted that post-maintenance, the blast furnaces have been restarted and are now running at optimum capacity.

Production from JSW’s Indian operations rose 15pct YoY to 7.02 mln tons, while JSW Steel USA-Ohio produced 24,000 tons, slightly up from 23,000 tons in the same quarter last year. The capacity utilization at Indian operations stood at 87pct for Q1 FY26.

JSW Steel’s consolidated crude steel capacity currently stands at 35.7 mln tons per annum, including 1.5 mln tons per annum in the U.S. The company plans to increase this to 43.5 mln tons per annum over the next three years as part of its growth strategy.
