Turkish steelmaker Kardemir has signed a USD 2.48 mln contract to supply railway wheels to a customer in Bulgaria, according to the company’s stock exchange filing.
The latest order follows a USD 2.25 mln railway wheel supply contract signed last week with a customer in the Czech Republic, under which the first shipment was completed on 18 June 2026.
Kardemir has also announced last week the signing of a master supply and resale agreement with U.S.-based Amsted Rail, appointing the company as the exclusive distributor and reseller of Kardemir’s railway products across North, Central and South America. The partnership is expected to strengthen Kardemir’s international sales network, support technical certification and market entry processes, and increase exports of high value-added railway products.
Kardemir operates Turkey’s only railway wheel production facility, with an annual capacity of 200,000 wheels. The plant manufactures wheels for locomotives, passenger and freight wagons, as well as urban rail systems, serving both domestic and export markets.
Founded in 1937, Kardemir is also Turkey’s only producer of both railway rails and railway wheels. The company manufactures a wide range of long steel products, including billets, blooms, rebar, wire rod, rails and structural sections.
