Kardemir to implement digital production management system

Kardemir is advancing the digital transformation of its production processes through a Level 3 Production Management System, image processing and artificial intelligence, with implementation planned across its facilities by mid-2027.

Based on the international ISA-95 approach, the Level 3 system will provide an integrated management layer between corporate planning systems and Level 2 automation and process control systems. It is designed to bring production orders, quality and inventory information, material movements and traceability data into a common structure.

The first phase focuses on steel production and continuous casting, improving production traceability and data standardization while reducing manual data collection and consolidation.

Kardemir is also using image processing technology to track the movements of critical carriers, including ladles and torpedoes, within its facilities. The system aims to monitor these movements in real time and link the resulting data automatically to production processes.

The company said the initiative will integrate production knowledge and operational experience into a common digital structure, strengthening traceability and data-driven decision-making across its operations.
