Germany’s Klockner & Co has expanded its electrical steel capacity to address surging demand from North America’s power grid, renewable energy, and data center sectors.
The company has established a state-of-the-art production and service center to boost processing of cold-rolled grain-oriented (CRGO) electrical steel, including slitting and transformer core production. The facility is expected to be fully operational in Q3 2025.
Klockner has also integrated Ambo Stahl, a Cologne-based specialist in wear-resistant, high-tensile, ballistic, and armor steels, and acquired Simfloc, a Swiss firm specializing in building services installation.
One of the world’s largest producer-independent steel and metal processors, Klockner operates around 120 warehouse and processing sites, mainly in North America and the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), serving over 60,000 customers.
