Turkish steel producer Kocaer Celik has received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for both its near-term (2030) and long-term (2050) emission reduction goals, becoming the only Turkish steel company with validated targets.

By 2030, the company aims to cut absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42pct and reduce Scope 3 emissions intensity by 51.6pct from 2022 levels. Looking ahead to 2050, it targets a 90pct reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 97pct cut in Scope 3 intensity.
Kocaer operates three steel profile factories with a combined annual capacity of 800,000 tons, a 100,000-ton galvanizing plant, and a 180,000-ton service center in Turkey.
