Lamprell and IMI sign offshore fabrication agreement

Lamprell has signed an agreement with International Maritime Industries (IMI) for the fabrication of several offshore structures, including a production platform and jackets, as part of an offshore Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) project being delivered by Lamprell.

Fabrication will take place at IMI’s facility in Ras Al-Khair, Saudi Arabia. The agreement marks the first offshore fabrication scope involving production platforms and jackets at the IMI facility.

The partnership supports Lamprell’s efforts to expand its capabilities in Saudi Arabia and increase local content. Lamprell is a founding shareholder of IMI and will contribute its offshore EPCI and fabrication expertise to the project.

The agreement also represents a step in IMI’s expansion beyond shipbuilding into offshore structures and fabrication for Saudi Arabia’s energy sector.

Lamprell is an EPCI contractor serving the international energy sector, with more than five decades of experience across the oil and gas and offshore wind sectors. The company operates major facilities in Hamriyah and Jebel Ali in the UAE, with additional offices in India and Saudi Arabia.

IMI is a maritime facility based at Ras Al-Khair in Saudi Arabia and a joint venture between Aramco, Lamprell, Bahri and Hyundai Heavy Industries. When fully operational, its yard is expected to build up to six offshore rigs and more than 40 vessels annually, including VLCCs.
