Lamprell has awarded a contract to Denmark-based Ventherm A/S to supply a fully automated robotic system for the surface treatment of transition pieces used in offshore wind foundations at its Hamriyah facility in the UAE.
This pioneering project marks the first implementation of a fully automated solution designed to manage complex geometries while meeting high-performance requirements. The system includes a blasting robot for surface preparation and a paint robot operating within a 140-meter-long booth, purpose-built for transition pieces. It also features a turnkey paint equipment package for heavy-duty coatings and an automatic programming system, allowing the robots to adapt to different specifications with minimal manual intervention.
By integrating this advanced solution into its serial production line, Lamprell aims to enhance product quality, boost productivity, and reduce material waste, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable fabrication process.
The robotic system is expected to be fully operational by 2026.
