Libyan Iron & Steel Company (LISCO) has appointed Rotary International Limited to upgrade the control system of one of its key production units, as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs, the company announced in a statement.
The Hungarian-owned firm, which has maintained a presence in Libya since 2003, will specifically replace the control system of LISCO’s third direct reduction unit.
Rotary International specializes in engineering, procurement, and consulting services for environmental protection, petrochemical, power, and water projects, and has previously refurbished transformers at LISCO’s power plant.
LISCO’s production capacity includes 1.1 mln tons of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), 650,000 tons of Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI), and up to 1.7 mln tons of crude steel annually. Its product range includes slab, billet, rebar, wire rod, hot-rolled coil, cold-rolled coil, and steel sections.
