Portuguese flat steel producer Lusosider Acos Planos has once again partnered with Fives to optimize zinc consumption at its 275,000 tons per year continuous galvanizing line in Paio Pires.
The project involves installing a digital air-knife model developed by Fives’ Steel Digital Factory. The system fully automates wiping adjustments, controls coating weight during transitions, and minimizes overcoating, reducing zinc use while improving surface quality.
The line, previously modernized by Fives to enhance safety and maintenance, will now benefit from automated zinc control and lower operating costs, further boosting performance.
