China’s Maanshan Iron & Steel (Masteel) has ordered a 4D EAGLE S laser gauge from KOCKS to improve dimensional control and quality assurance in its rolling operations.
The system will monitor rolled bars ranging from 15 mm to 100 mm in diameter, providing real-time measurements of product profiles and surfaces. Integrated with KOCKS’ Size Control System (SCS), the gauge will support closed-loop rolling control, process optimization and consistent product quality.
The investment will also introduce advanced defect classification using laser light sectioning technology, combined with precise profile measurement. Through the SMARTCORE X interface, the system will provide additional process insights to support rolling operations. It will replace an existing 4D EAGLE system.
Commissioning is planned for the first half of 2027, with KOCKS MEASURE + INSPECT providing technical supervision, training and consultation.
