Egyptian steel re-roller Metad Helwan for Metal Rolling plans to list a 15-30pct stake on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) in the second half of 2027, with the company targeting proceeds of around EGP 1 bln (USD 19.45 mln), local media reported, citing Chairman Sherif Ayad.
The proposed IPO would value the company at an estimated EGP 3.3-6.7 bln (USD 64-130 mln), depending on the stake offered. Metad Helwan is still studying the transaction and has not yet appointed a financial adviser or bookrunner.
The IPO proceeds would partially finance an EGP 1.5-2 bln (USD 29-38.9 mln) expansion plan aimed at increasing the company’s monthly production capacity to 20,000 tons from the current 15,000 tons.
Founded in 1973, Metad Helwan is a steel re-roller that purchases billets and processes them into finished products, rather than operating an integrated steelmaking facility. Its main products include reinforcing steel bars and structural sections such as beams, angles and flats, mainly in sizes below 80 mm.
Metad Helwan is part of Ayad Group, an Egyptian private-sector industrial group with operations spanning steel rolling and metal fabrication. The group’s activities include Metad Helwan’s long steel operations and Acheel AYAD’s production of welded steel tubes and pipes. The group operates four production facilities in Helwan, Giza and Cairo.
