Metalloinvest’s A.A. Ugarov Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant (OEMK) has completed a major overhaul of key equipment at Rolling Shop No. 2 (Mill-350).
The kilometer-long Mill-350 production line underwent comprehensive maintenance across furnaces, transport systems, and roughing stands. Key works included refurbishing the electric motors and gearboxes of the fifth and sixth stands and installing a new domestically produced gearbox on the first stand. Dismantling, installation, and alignment were completed in nearly four days.
Mill 350 produces high-quality rolled steel products, including bars used in machine and car manufacturing, instrument and bearing production, and metal constructions.
Upgrades were also carried out in the finishing and shipping areas, where five overhead crane beams and 80 meters of crane runway were replaced. Packaging, strapping, and weighing systems were inspected and repaired, and select equipment foundations were renewed to ensure long-term durability.
As part of the modernization, a retractable trolley was added to collect scrap generated during abrasive grinding. The scrap is now quickly transferred by crane to dedicated bins, improving housekeeping and easing maintenance.
