Metalloinvest’s OEMK plant has completed a major overhaul of its automated high-bay stacker, enhancing positioning accuracy and boosting productivity. The upgrade, costing approximately RUB 80 mln (USD 0.82 mln), reduces alignment time and improves operational efficiency.
The stacker, located in long-product rolling shop No. 1, arranges metal on racks in an intermediate high-bay warehouse. Each bay can store up to 1,200 bundles of metal, with each bundle weighing up to 10 tons.
As part of the overhaul, specialists installed advanced drives, controllers, and magnetostrictive sensors for precise operation. Electrical upgrades included replacing the propulsion drive and 5.5 kilometers of cables, which transmit power and sensor signals to regulate the stacker’s movements and material handling.
