Crude steel production in the Middle East increased 3.4pct YoY to 51.6 mln tons in the first eleven months of 2025, according to data from the World Steel Association. Regional output rose 8.2pct YoY to 5.5 mln tons in November. The figures cover Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Yemen.
In Africa, crude steel production grew 4.2pct YoY to 21.3 mln tons during January-November, while November output increased 7.4pct YoY to 2.0 mln tons, reflecting gains across producers including Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa.
Turkey recorded crude steel output of 34.6 mln tons in the first eleven months, up 2pct YoY, with November production rising 10pct YoY to 3.3 mln tons.
Iran’s output edged up 0.1pct YoY to 28.8 mln tons over the same period, while November production increased 9.2pct YoY to 3.4 mln tons.
Globally, crude steel production fell 2pct YoY to 1.66 bln tons in January-November, with November output down 4.6pct YoY to 140.1 mln tons.
China posted a 4pct decline to 891.7 mln tons over the eleven months, with November production dropping 10.9pct YoY to 69.9 mln tons.
India continued to outperform, producing 150.1 mln tons, up 10.3pct YoY, while November output rose 10.8pct YoY to 13.7 mln tons.
In the United States, crude steel production increased 3.2pct YoY to 75.1 mln tons, with November output up 8.5pct YoY to 6.8 mln tons.
Japan’s production declined 3.9pct YoY to 74.1 mln tons, while November output slipped 1.6pct YoY to 6.8 mln tons.
