The Indian Ministry of Finance has extended the countervailing duty on imports of welded stainless steel pipes and tubes from China and Vietnam for an additional five years.
This decision follows the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) final findings, which determined that removing the duty would likely result in continued subsidies and harm to the domestic industry.
Originally introduced in September 2019, the countervailing duty will range between 11.96pct and 29.88pct on stainless steel pipes and tubes imported from Vietnam and China, respectively. The products subject to the countervailing duty fall under HS codes 7304.1110, 7304.1190, 7304.4100, 7304.5110, 7304.9000, 7305.1129, 7305.9099, 7306.1100, 7306.2100, 7306.2919, 7306.3090, 7306.4000, 7306.5000, 7306.6100, 7306.6900, 7306.9011, 7306.9019, and 7306.9090.
