Morocco has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties for five years on imports of galvanized steel wire originating from Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, following the conclusion of an anti-dumping investigation by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The ministry determined that dumped imports from both countries had caused a threat of material injury to the domestic industry and confirmed a causal link between the imports and the deterioration in the performance of local producers. The investigation, which was launched in March 2025, was officially concluded on July 28, 2026.
The product subject to the anti-dumping measures is galvanized steel wire under HS Code 7217.20.99.00. Definitive duties have been set at 18.44pct for UAE-based Al Khaleej Steel Industries, 52.71pct for other UAE exporters, and 46pct for Egypt’s The Egyptian Union for Wires (MAFO) as well as all other Egyptian exporters. The measures will remain in force for five years.
According to the ministry, imports of galvanized steel wire from Egypt and the UAE increased significantly during the investigation period and exerted downward pressure on domestic prices. The authorities concluded that these imports posed a threat of material injury to Morocco’s domestic galvanized wire industry, supporting the imposition of definitive anti-dumping measures.
