Egypt’s Ministry of Industry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Finnish mining technology company Metso to provide technical and operational support for mineral processing and extraction, focusing on iron ore and phosphate.
Signed during the Egypt Mining Forum 2026, the agreement covers research, laboratory analysis, feasibility studies and technical assessments to improve the utilization of Egypt’s mineral resources.
The cooperation also includes engineering consultancy and the deployment of field experts to support local teams and companies, improve operational efficiency and facilitate knowledge transfer.
The MoU is expected to pave the way for further agreements defining the technical and commercial scope of individual projects.
Egypt’s Ministry of Industry said the cooperation supports efforts to develop mining, strengthen industrial integration and expand opportunities for investment, local manufacturing and exports.
