Mukand Sumi Special Steel (MSSSL) has ordered a new blooming mill from Danieli for installation at its Hospet plant in Karnataka, southwest India.
The mill will have a capacity of 300,000 tons per year, rolling blooms up to 380 x 420 mm into billets (160-180 mm square) and round products (100-200 mm diameter). The output will include alloy and microalloy steels, ball bearing and file steels, spring steels, and valve steels, serving sectors such as automotive, engineering, bearings, oil and gas, energy, and infrastructure.
The investment aims to expand MSSSL’s capacity, optimize its product mix, and improve yield and surface quality. Danieli will supply mechanical equipment, process control, electrics, motors, as well as advisory, commissioning, and training services. A disk saw for billet and bar cutting is also included.
Most equipment will be manufactured and preassembled at Danieli India’s workshops in Andhra Pradesh. The blooming mill is scheduled to start operations by late 2026.
