Mughal Steel advances captive power project with turbine start-up

Pakistan’s Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Limited, through its subsidiary Mughal Energy Limited, has initiated turbine rolling at its hybrid power plant, marking the start of phased power generation and system testing.

The company said the process includes load testing, system stability checks and safety compliance verification as part of commissioning activities.

The project is expected to support captive power generation, helping reduce energy costs and improve operational efficiency. It complements the group’s ongoing rolling mill modernization, aimed at enabling dual-purpose production of rebar and medium sections.

With an annual production capacity of around 1 mln tons, Mughal Steel produces billets, rebar and structural sections.
