Mughal Steel advances hybrid power plant project

Mughal Iron & Steel’s subsidiary, Mughal Energy, has completed the hydro testing phase for its 36.50 MW hybrid power plant, marking a significant step toward the project’s commissioning.

Hydro testing, a crucial process to confirm the mechanical integrity and pressure tolerance of pipelines, boilers, and other systems, paves the way for the start of electrical works. With this stage complete, the project remains on track for commercial operations in Q2 FY 2026.

Once operational, the plant is expected to provide Mughal Steel with lower-cost electricity through in-house generation, strengthening its cost efficiency and energy security.

With an annual production capacity of 1 mln tons, Mughal Steel manufactures billets, rebar, and structural sections, and also produces copper ingots, mainly for export to China.
