Mukand Limited, part of the Bajaj Group, has been awarded Green Steel certification by the National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology (NISST) under India’s new Green Steel Taxonomy.
The certification recognizes Mukand’s efforts in lower-emission steel production. Its black bars received a 5-Star rating, while wire rods and bright bars were awarded 4-Star ratings, following an independent audit conducted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). The audit reviewed Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption and production data at Mukand’s Thane facility in Maharashtra, India.
According to the Green Steel Taxonomy framework introduced by India’s Ministry of Steel, products with lower carbon emissions during production, measured in CO2 per ton of finished steel, qualify for higher star ratings, helping to benchmark environmental performance in the steel sector.
Mukand Limited is a leading Indian manufacturer specializing in high-quality alloy steel, stainless steel, and heavy industrial machinery. They produce long products including hot-rolled bars, wire rods, and bright bars for industries like automotive, engineering, and defense.
