NS-Siam United Steel Co., Ltd. (NS-SUS), a subsidiary of Nippon Steel Corporation, will invest approximately USD 58 mln to expand its electric plating line (EPL) in Thailand. The expansion aims to meet rising demand for tinplate steel, particularly from can manufacturers.
Thailand is a key export hub for food cans, with a steadily growing market for container tinplate steel. By increasing production, NS-SUS seeks to strengthen local manufacturing and enhance the supply chain.
The project will boost NS-SUS’s tinplate steel capacity from 280,000 tons to 350,000 tons per year, with completion expected by March 2027.
