NMDC achieves record iron ore output in FY26

Indian state-owned miner NMDC reported record iron ore production of 53.15 mln tons in the financial year ending March 31, 2026 (FY26), marking a 20.6pct YoY increase.

The milestone makes NMDC the first mining company in India to exceed 50 mln tons of annual production.

Iron ore sales rose 13.1pct YoY to 50.23 mln tons during the period.

In March 2026, NMDC produced 5.35 mln tons of iron ore, up 51pct YoY, while sales increased 40.1pct to 5.90 mln tons.

NMDC is a major iron ore producer in India, operating the Bailadila mines, known for high-grade ore with up to 65.5pct Fe content. In Karnataka, the company runs the Donimalai and Kumaraswamy mines in the Bellary-Hospet region. The miner aims to expand its iron ore capacity to 100 mln tons per annum by FY31.
