    NMDC sees production growth in Jan 2024, sales edge lower

    India’s state-owned iron ore miner NMDC reported a 12.3 pct YoY increase in production, reaching 5.1 mln tons in January 2025, up from 4.54 mln tons in the same month last year, according to a stock exchange filing.

    However, iron ore sales for the month declined by 1.75 pct YoY to 4.48 mln tons.

    For the April 2024 to January 2025 period, cumulative production fell to 35.87 mln tons from 36.32 mln tons in the previous fiscal year. Sales saw a slight decline to 36.22 mln tons from 36.49 mln tons.

    NMDC, India’s largest iron ore miner, operates three fully mechanized mines, two in Chhattisgarh and one in Karnataka, with a total annual production capacity of approximately 35 mln tons.
