NMDC Steel achieves full-capacity production at integrated steel plant

NMDC Steel Limited has achieved its highest-ever monthly production, reaching 100pct of rated capacity at its integrated steel plant, marking a significant milestone in the ramp-up of operations.

The plant is equipped with Danieli’s QSP (Quality Strip Production) technology, featuring a Thin Slab Casting and Rolling (TSCR) configuration with separate roughing and finishing mills. The setup provides greater operational flexibility and enables the production of high-strength steel and Thermo-Mechanical Controlled Processed (TMCP) grades for demanding applications.

The facility has also become the first TSCR plant in India to receive the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) license for HR steel used in welded steel pipes for pipeline transportation under IS 18384 standards, confirming its capability to supply material for critical infrastructure projects.

NMDC Steel has successfully produced several specialty steel grades, including BSK 46, ISH 550 LA, and E450 BR, on a commercial scale, further expanding its product range for the infrastructure, industrial, and automotive sectors.

Supported by advanced process control systems and Danieli technologies, the QSP plant ensures stable operations, efficient production, and consistent product quality.

State-owned NMDC Steel operates a 3 mln tons per annum greenfield integrated steel plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh. The company, which was demerged from India’s largest iron ore producer NMDC Ltd, focuses on the production of high-quality hot-rolled coils, sheets, and plates.
