India’s state-owned iron ore miner, NMDC, reported an 18pct YoY increase in production, reaching 4.41 mln tons in November 2024, compared to 3.83 mln tons in the same month last year, according to a stock exchange filing.
Iron ore sales for the month also rose by 5.5pct to 4 mln tons, up from 3.79 mln tons in November 2023.
However, cumulative production for the April-November 2024 period fell to 26.06 mln tons, compared to 27.31 mln tons during the same period last fiscal year. In contrast, sales slightly increased to 27.84 mln tons, up from 27.78 mln tons YoY.
NMDC, India’s largest iron ore miner, operates three fully mechanized mines, two in Chhattisgarh and one in Karnataka, with a total annual production capacity of approximately 35 mln tons.
