NMDC’s iron ore production and sales rise in August 2026

India’s NMDC Ltd reported provisional iron ore production of 4.07 mln tons in August 2026, up 20.8pct YoY from 3.37 mln tons a year earlier, according to a regulatory filing.

Iron ore sales increased 5.6pct YoY to 3.58 mln tons from 3.39 mln tons in August 2025.

In Chhattisgarh, production rose to 2.64 mln tons from 2.21 mln tons, while sales increased to 2.51 mln tons from 2.28 mln tons.

Karnataka production increased to 1.43 mln tons from 1.16 mln tons, while sales declined slightly to 1.07 mln tons from 1.11 mln tons.

For the first eight months of 2026, NMDC’s cumulative iron ore production reached 23.23 mln tons, up 25.9pct YoY from 18.45 mln tons. Cumulative sales increased 1.9pct YoY to 18.72 mln tons from 18.37 mln tons.

Chhattisgarh accounted for 16.42 mln tons of cumulative production and 14.29 mln tons of sales, while Karnataka contributed 6.81 mln tons of production and 4.43 mln tons of sales during the period.

NMDC is India’s largest iron ore producer, operating the high-grade Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh and the Donimalai and Kumaraswamy mines in Karnataka. The company aims to increase its iron ore production capacity to 100 mln tons per annum by FY2031.
