Sarralle Processing Lines has successfully obtained the final acceptance certificate for the recently installed new slitting line at North American Stainless (NAS), which is a part of the Acerinox Group. This achievement marks Sarralle’s second major contract in the United States, following their agreement with Arcelor Mittal and Nippon Steel Corporation (AM/NS Calvert) to supply a state-of-the-art steelmaking plant in Alabama.
At NAS’s facility in Kentucky, Sarralle Processing Lines has implemented an advanced, fully automated slitting line for processing coils. The new line, designed and manufactured by Sarralle, can handle thicknesses ranging from 0.4 to 3.0 mm and process coils weighing up to 35 tons. This upgrade allows NAS to enhance its production capacity.
To adhere to the project’s tight schedule, Sarralle worked simultaneously at its manufacturing facilities in Azpeitia, Spain. They modernized equipment from Acerinox France, which was dismantled and transferred to Azpeitia for refurbishment. In addition to that, Sarralle designed, constructed, and manufactured new machinery, including electrical control cabinets.
Furthermore, Sarralle carried out the installation, assembly services (mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical), and commissioning of the new slitting line. The fully automated line is equipped with a new PLC and a Level II interface that integrates with NAS’s existing ERP system, ensuring optimal product quality throughout the line.
