NS-SUS commissions new coil-handling cranes at Rayong plant

NS-Siam United Steel (NS-SUS) has completed commissioning and final acceptance of two new 25-ton Danieli coil-handling cranes at its Plant 3 in Rayong, Thailand, as part of a modernization programme aimed at increasing production capacity and improving operational safety.

The new cranes replace an 11-ton unit and can handle coils weighing up to 20 tons, providing greater flexibility and reliability in coil-yard operations.

The installations include upgraded safety and protection systems and are designed for future integration with the Danieli Yard Management System (DYMS), enabling the development of automated coil-handling operations.

Commissioning included load testing, system checks and operator and maintenance training conducted by Danieli and NS-SUS teams. The modernization is expected to improve crane reliability and handling efficiency while preparing the facility for digitalized yard management.

NS-Siam United Steel (NS-SUS), a Thailand-based subsidiary of Nippon Steel, produces flat steel products including CR, coated and tinplate steel sheets.
