U.S. steel producer Nucor has temporarily halted certain production operations after detecting unauthorized third-party access to its information technology systems, the company disclosed in a stock exchange filing.
Nucor is working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident and has begun restarting the affected operations. The company has notified federal law enforcement and taken impacted systems offline while implementing containment, remediation, and recovery measures.
Nucor and its affiliates manufacture a wide range of steel products across facilities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Its portfolio includes carbon and alloy steel, structural tubing, steel joists, fabricated rebar, cold-finished steel, metal building systems, and more. The company is also active in scrap processing and metal brokerage through its subsidiary, The David J. Joseph Company, and is recognized as North America’s largest recycler.
