US steelmaker Nucor will invest USD 59 mln to expand production capabilities at its Vulcraft Indiana manufacturing facility in St. Joe, Indiana, adding capacity to produce steel grating products.
The project marks Nucor’s fourth major investment in Indiana in recent years. The company has invested in sheet mill modernization, utility infrastructure and insulated metal panel production in the state, with these projects collectively creating around 300 jobs.
Vulcraft Indiana is one of nine Vulcraft facilities operated by Nucor in North America. Vulcraft produces steel joists, joist girders and steel decking for non-residential construction, with annual joist and deck production capacity of around 1.2 mln tons.
Nucor is a major North American steel producer with operations across the United States, Canada and Mexico, manufacturing carbon and alloy steel in bars, beams, sheet and plate, along with a wide range of downstream steel products. Its portfolio includes structural products, steel joists and decking, rebar, wire and mesh, steel grating, metal building systems and insulated panels. Through its affiliates, Nucor also processes and brokers ferrous and non-ferrous metals and is North America’s largest recycler.
