Turkey imported approximately 447,000 tons of pig iron in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 1.4pct decline compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Russia remained Turkey’s top pig iron supplier during this period, exporting 295,400 tons. Kazakhstan followed with 67,900 tons, while Indonesia ranked third with 47,000 tons.
In March 2025 alone, Turkey’s pig iron imports rose sharply, up 39pct YoY to 234,900 tons. Month-on-month, imports saw a dramatic increase of 343pct.
